Captain Lee Breaks Silence About ‘Below Deck’ Departure
When Captain Lee Rosbach left Below Deck, it took many fans by surprise, and in a recent interview, he admitted he was shocked his time on the Bravo series had come to an end as well. Lee said that Bravo made the choice to move on and he wasn’t really happy about it.
Here is what the captain had to say about his Below Deck exit.
Captain Lee on Below Deck exit
Below Deck fans have been missing Captain Lee lately. He left during Season 10 because of health issues. Luckily, Captain Sandy from Below Deck Mediterranean came in to take his place and finish out the season. While Lee left due to illness, he had every intention to return to the show he had starred in for 10 seasons. That never happened.
Instead, Bravo contacted him and said they wanted to go in a different direction for future seasons. Bravo replaced him with Captain Kerry from Below Deck Adventures for Season 11, with the season taking place in Grenada. Sadly, this was not how Lee wanted to go out since he left the show sick and never had a chance to officially return.
“I regret that I couldn’t do the whole season,” Captain Lee said in an interview with Us Weekly. He said he has never quit anything in his entire life and it was hard for him to walk off the boat when he did. This made it important for him to get up and get back on the boat, which he said he accomplished. However, he wasn’t able to return to Below Deck.
“That came right out of left field. I did not see that one coming at all,” Lee said about Bravo calling him to let him go. He said they just told him that wanted to move in a new direction, which he didn’t buy. “that’s kind of a cliche that everybody uses when they find themselves in that situation where they’re going to let somebody go,” he said. He said it was just a “tired cliche” that is overused.
Would Captain Lee return to Below Deck?
While Captain Lee sounds disappointed at how his time on Below Deck ended, he is not averse to returning to the show. He wasn’t happy about the excuse used to fire him, but he would have no problem with coming back and tackling new seasons down the line. “If they found that they needed me back on the show, I’d go back,” he said. Lee also said he wants a chance to go out on different terms.
Instead of Below Deck, he is now working with Dramamine for a new Ditch the Drama Sweepstakes. In this, people sign up for a raffle where the winners get a dream vacation to any destination in the world, planned out by Travelocity. Captain Lee simply added his name to this to help the promotion.
