With the Finale of Fire Country Season 1 fast approaching, fans wonder if the new scripted series will be renewed or canceled by CBS for Season 2. Fear for the future of the CBS firefighter drama mounts after the network dropped a bombshell that the extremely popular S.W.A.T. (which airs right before Fire Country on Friday nights) was canceled.
Will this brand-new series make it to a second season? Keep reading for the details!
Fire Country Season 2: Renewed Or Canceled By CBS?
As US Weekly reminds fans, Fire Country premiered during the fall 2022 line-up on CBS. After airing the first two installments, the network decided to order a full season because of how wildly popular the show was.
Fortunately, just three months after ordering a full season, the network gave the green light to order Season 2 as well. So, fans of this firefighter drama can rest easy knowing it will return for Season 2 and has not been canceled just yet.
Amy Reisenbach, the president of CBS Entertainment, issued a statement back in January of this year noting it was “remarkable” to see how popular this series got from the jump with both live viewers and streaming audiences.
Fire Country has so many appealing entry points for the audience. It combines high-stakes action with small town charm, mystery and romance, and a family franchise at its core. We’re blessed to have an incredible team in front of and behind the camera led by amazing producers and writers and an exceptionally talented cast.”
Amy Reisenbach believes the combination of an incredible cast and the unique blend of genres has allowed the show to be so successful and appeal to such a wide variety of people.
What inspired the creation of this show?
Max Thieriot, who plays the role of Bode, co-created the series with Tony Phelan and Joan Rater. Turns out, he was inspired to bring Fire Country to life after he witnesses the way firefighters handle a crisis. The actor resided in California back in 2017 when the Tubbs and Nuns wildfires occurred. The chaos that she saw firsthand ended up being inspirational, he explained during an interview with Petaluma Argus-Courier back in October of last year.
It was chaos. It was so surreal and unbelievable that this fire was spreading where it was. People just couldn’t imagine this ever happening. And after it was all over, I was driving around, and it was just hard to digest. … My gosh, the devastation.”
The actor and showrunner further explained to Collider in January of this year that they regularly consult with firefighters in order to keep the series as “true to life” as possible.
