Audrey Roloff Shocks Fans With Recent Confession
Jeremy Roloff’s wife Audrey Roloff is constantly catching heat for her parenting decisions. She, however, has shocked everyone by recently admitting just how careless she is with the safety of her children — especially Bode.
What exactly has Audrey Roloff done now? And, why are fans so worried about Bode? Keep reading for the scoop.
Audrey Roloff doesn’t believe in sunscreen
Turns out, Jeremy Roloff’s wife Audrey doesn’t really believe in using sunscreen on her children. It hasn’t escaped fans that this doesn’t pair well with the fact that she allows her son Bode to run nude on the beach (soaking up the sun) all of the time. LPBW fans were horrified by this information as they assumed she would at least use some sort of all-natural or organic sunscreen. But, she’s actually not big on sunscreen and admits she believes in “healthy sun exposure.”
Prior to her children exceeding six months of age, Audrey further explained that she exclusively uses Young Living on them. Unsurprisingly, this also didn’t sit well with fans as they had serious concerns about essential oils really being that safe for children (especially those under the age of six months).
With Bode in particular, fans are horrified to learn he is frequently running nude on the beach without a drop of sunscreen to protect his skin.
Are essential oils even safe for children?
According to the ACHS, Audrey Roloff may actually be damaging her children’s skin even worse by putting essential oils on their flesh before exposing them to the sun. Turns out, there are some essential oils called “photosensitive” or “phototoxic.” These oils contain furocoumarins which can actually increase an individual’s chance of skin cancer when exposed directly to the sun.
Per WebMD and Healthline, medical experts frown upon the use of essential oils for children under six months old. Essential oils can reportedly break down the lipid barrier on a child’s skin and cause serious harm. Likewise, essential oils are extremely toxic when ingested. Moreover, they can cause serious skin issues and breathing problems with applied topically. While the risk can be reduced by mixing with a carrier oil, it is just not recommended to use essential oils on children under six months.
Is Audrey Roloff right about healthy sun exposure?
Medical experts confirm that there is such a thing as healthy sun exposure. Per vitamin D research, it is recommended that a person gets between 5 and 30 minutes of sun exposure at least twice per week. This sun exposure should happen without sunscreen to prevent being deficient in vitamin D. Unfortunately, fans suspect Audrey Roloff’s children get way more than recommended healthy sun exposure.
