‘GMA’ Non-Compete Clause Prevents TJ Holmes & Amy’s Return
GMA’s non-compete clause prevents TJ Holmes and Amy Robach from making a comeback. They are reportedly “banned” from co-anchoring on another news show for “at least a year.” This comes as the two fired co-hosts scramble to land a network deal. Keep reading to learn more.
Hits keep coming for fired GMA3 co-anchors
The hits just keep coming for the fired GMA3: What You Need to Know co-anchors. As TV Shows Ace previously reported, TJ Holmes and Amy Robach are planning a big return. They’ve pitched ideas to several of the major networks. They also want to compete in Season 32 of Dancing with the Stars, but that wouldn’t work since the DisneyPlus series is under the ABC family.
According to a new report, TJ and Amy are “banned” from working with a competing news network. This prevents them from getting a similar job for a year. They signed a non-compete clause with ABC, which prevents them from taking a similar television job. The couple has met with several networks and production companies since their firing in January 2023.
“Even if they had an offer, they can’t take it because they had a non-compete, which lasts for at least a year,” an insider told The U.S. Sun. “The reports about them looking for work are true, but technically they can’t take on an anchor job until their non-compete is over, so those talks have all been very casual.”
Back in January, TJ Holmes and Amy Robach parted ways with ABC. The decision was made after hours of deliberation and mediation discussions. They had to sign a non-compete before their firing so they could receive their settlement money. ABC made sure to cross its i’s and dot its t’s before letting them go.
Are TJ Holmes & Amy Robach pitching a reality show?
Amid the rabid job hunt, TJ Holmes and Amy Robach like the idea of their own reality show. It sounds like they’re trying anything just so they can get back on television and have a stable paycheck again. The two even tried to secure a spot in the upcoming season of DWTS. ABC production has already turned them down.
“Once you’re out at Disney, you are out across the board on all the shows and affiliates,” an insider told RadarOnline. “It would have been a fantastic next move for them, but they are now persona non grata with the mouse.”
They feel that their “chemistry is off the charts.” Amy and TJ Holmes would rather have that play out on screen rather than with a podcast. Most of their meetings have left them feeling hopeless and discouraged. However, they’re still gunning for a return.
