Kaitlyn Bristowe dishes on salary information
The Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe opened up on Jason Tartick’s podcast, Trading Secrets, about how much money she made on reality television. First of all, she revealed living off of only $1500 they gave her while she was negotiating the possibility of being the next lead. This was money given to her between The Bachelor and The Bachelorette seasons. This all took place in 2015.
Initially, Kaitlyn was only offered $40,000 for the leading role. Plus, it wasn’t guaranteed because she was competing for the spot with Britt Nilsson. Kaitlyn didn’t jump on the 40k. Instead, she was advised to hire an entertainment lawyer. Her stepdad footed the bill for the retainer fee and with the attorney’s help, she negotiated a better deal for herself.
The producers were shocked she sought legal help. Kaitlyn said, “He changed a lot and negotiated my contract big time for me. One of the executive producers said to me, ‘You got an entertainment lawyer, and you’re asking for this amount of money? I’m sorry. I thought this is about love for you.’ F**k off! It’s about love and money, OK? They go hand in hand for me right now.”
Of course, she wasn’t guaranteed the role at first so she only agreed to be on the show if she was paid as much as Chris Soules got as The Bachelor. It isn’t clear exactly how much that dollar amount was but other leads made anywhere from $75,000 to $100,000.
Kaitlyn was even smart and ensured that she would be paid even if she lost the role to Britt.
DWTS money
Regarding Dancing With the Stars, Kaitlyn shared that how much a dancer makes depends on them making it through each week. A bonus is given to those dancers that move on in the competition. She also noted that the final four all get the same amount. However, it is the signing bonus that has more wiggle room and can be negotiated. She did not reveal what she negotiated to earn with the show. However, it was also noted the mirrorball trophy is worth $10,000.
Kaitlyn also revealed that she and Tayshia Adams did make decent money while hosting two seasons of The Bachelorette. They didn’t make as much as a full-time host but still, it was lucrative for them both.
Kaitlyn also makes money in other ways. She has a successful wine business as well as her own podcast. She continues to be a big and well-respected name in Bachelor Nation.
