Singer Bobby Caldwell confirmed dead at 71
Tragically, it was Bobby Caldwel’s wife Mary who took to his Twitter to confirm her husband had passed away.
She penned in the confirmation of Bobby’s passing: “Bobby passed away here at home. I held him tight in my arms as he left us. I am forever heartbroken.”
Thanks to all of you for your many prayers over the years. He had been ‘FLOXED,’ it took his health over the last 6 years and 2 months. Rest with God, my Love. -Mary Caldwell
Per the Integrative Medicine Center, FLOXED is described as “the devastating effects of a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones”
Regenerative Medicine LA adds that Bobby being FLOXED means he likely suffered “mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress” has a result of the antibiotics.

The What You Won’t Do For Love singer
Bobby Caldwell dabbled in R&B, soul, jazz, and adult contemporary music. Perhaps his best well-known song was titled What You Won’t Do For Love.
Some of his other well-known songs include:
- My Flame
- Take Me, I’ll Follow You
- Open Your Eyes
- Heart Of Mine
Sadly, Bobby Caldwell hadn’t been able to walk for roughly five years. He was struggling with painful neuropathy and he tore the tendon in one of his ankles. A year prior, it was made public that he had a really bad reaction to an antibiotic that resulted in his Achilles tendon rupturing. This, in turn, caused the painful bouts of neuropathy that took away his mobility.
Bobby Caldwell wrote hits for a number of musicians over the years. And, tons of musicians have done covers of his 1978 hit What You Won’t Do For Love over the years.
Rest in peace, Bobby Caldwell.
