‘Antiques Roadshow’ Fans Dub New Special Episode Insulting
Antiques Roadshow fans dubbed the new special episode insulting after the experts refused to appraise items brought in by the guest. The February 26 episode was dedicated to the ones in the nursing profession. The BBC show visited London’s St Thomas’ and St Bartholomew’s hospitals to value trinkets from the medical professionals that work there. Antiques Roadshow Was A Tribute To Nurses
As the episode started, host Fiona Bruce announced that the evaluators won’t be tagging prices to any of the antiques as they do regularly. This was a decision taken due to the special nature of the episode which was also shared on YouTube. Fiona explained that the episode was dedicated to the history of nursing as opposed to evaluating antiques or items that hold historic value.

She also added, “Given the emotional and often moving testimony you’ll hear tonight, our experts won’t be providing any valuations. But the most humble items will reveal powerful stories.”
The 58-year-old said that the episode is a tribute to all everyone who has worked in the nursing profession. “Nurses are there as we enter the world until we leave it, they care for us when we’re at our most vulnerable and when we’re most in need,” she explained.
Antiques Roadshow Host Interviews Comedian Jo Brand
The special segment was dedicated to Jennifer Worth, who is also the author of Call The Midwife. Among the ones sharing their stories was comedian Jo Brand, who had previously worked as a psychiatric nurse. While the episode was very moving and emotional for the viewers, the decision to not evaluate the items confused viewers.

There were mixed reactions from the show’s fans. Some lauded the experts’ decision to not value something with emotional value. However, others felt that it devalued the hard work done by the nurses.
