Bringing Up Bates: Who is Whitney Bates?

If you didn’t know, Whitney met Zach in 2012. In July 2013, they entered an official courtship. In September 2013, they were engaged. They tied the knot in December 2013. Since then, their family has grown. They have four kids, Bradley, Kaci, Khloé, and Jadon, plus one more on the way.

Many fans adore Whitney and enjoy following her on social media. While she does share some parts of her life publicly, there are other pieces of her story that she keeps private.

What happened with Whitney’s parents?

On Reddit this week, a fan started a new thread and asked for some information about Whitney’s family. She doesn’t post too often about her parents, so there are some unknown details.

According to the Bates Family WikiWhitney has a set of biological parents and a set of adoptive parents. Her biological parents are James and Lynn Perkins. Her adoptive parents are Johnny and Lydia Owens. Whitney lived with her biological parents until she was 13 years old. At that point, she went to live with the Owens family, who were her friends. When the Bringing Up Bates star was 16 years old, Johnny and Lydia were granted full custody.

It’s unknown why Whitney was fostered by Johnny and Lydia. Fans are curious about what might have happened, but for now, the details aren’t all public.

Later on, things seemed to improve between Whitney and her biological parents. When she and Zach renewed their vows after five years of marriage, James and Lynn were in attendance.

Fans may recall hearing about the passing of Whitney’s biological father in 2021. He had suffered complications after a procedure and ended up in the ICU. He was then placed on a ventilator and dialysis as his organs began shutting down. Sadly, he passed away.
