Trace said, “Lydia is not a US citizen. She came over here when she was 10 years old. She has deferred status. Her family came over for homeschool so the family were in the news a lot.”
Lydia begged fans not to “look it up.” She claimed that she looked “so awkward” during that time in her life.
This year, they plan to get Lydia’s travel visa and green card. Right now, she’s unable to travel out of the country and has to complete a lot of paperwork each year to reapply for a work visa and driver’s license. Fortunately, she has a great lawyer who’s very helpful. He’s been working with the Romeike family since they originally immigrated to the US.
Once all of this is taken care of, Lydia wants to take Trace Bates back to her hometown in Germany.
