This week, Michael Clark, Travis’s brother, announced that he is running for office. Travis is Katie Bates’ husband, so Michael is her brother-in-law. While most of the Bates family members live in Tennesee, Katie moved to New Jersey, which is where Travis’s family is from.

Michael is running for a position in New Jersey’s state assembly in the fourth legislative district. According to the campaign flyer, he claims that the “fourth legislative district has been under Democrat control for too long.” As a “young conservative,” he wants to make a change.

Fans React To This Big News

On RedditBringing Up Bates fans are discussing the fact that Michael Clark is running for office. Many are upset by this and think this is a ridiculous decision. He will turn 24 in January 2023, so some fans feel that he isn’t qualified to run for office. They think he needs more knowledge and life experience before doing so.

One fan said, “These people have zero education and credentials and then think running for public office representing a whole population of constituents is a f****** good idea.”

Some assume that his run will be a flop. This is because the Bringing Up Bates family’s friend, Jed Duggar, ran for office in Arkansas a couple of years ago and did not win. Fans think Jed lost due to the reputation that the Duggars have these days, especially after Josh was found guilty of child pornography. The Bates family doesn’t appear to have any major controversies like this, but plenty of people have found reasons to dislike them.

Fans will have to wait and see what happens with Michael’s campaign. Be on the lookout for more updates about this soon.
