Usher’s Grandma Dead At 87: “Just Wasn’t Ready”

“I LOVE U MORE,” Usher penned in all caps at the top of his tribute to his grandmother. The R&B singer proceeded to admit he was sure it would take him a little time to come to terms with the reality that his grandmother was no longer with him.

It’s taken me a few days to come to grips with the fact that my Grandma Tina is no longer with me. I’m praying for clarity and strength for all whom relied on her. Her daily devotion was to help those in need and she did just that. It was her life’s work. She was truly a prayer warrior for me and so many others. I feel a bit lost right now.”

The singer continued to explain that his grandmother was a firm believer in God always has a plan. He was trying to be strong and cling to this belief. But, he was having a hard time.

He continued: “The other half of me continues to break silently. We were just laughing days ago … I really thought we had more time.”

For Usher, his grandmother was always the person he could call on when he was feeling lost. He explained that it didn’t matter how much time it took, she was always there to help bring him back and sort things out. The singer knows that God has called her home. But, he is struggling because he wasn’t ready to lose her just yet.

He added near the end of his post: “Her last words to me were, ‘There’s a time for everything son …there’s a time to laugh, a time to cry…there’s a time to live and a time to die.'”

Rest in peace, Grandma Tina.
