Sesame Street OG Bob McGrath Dead At 90
Bob McGrath was an OG on the Sesame Street cast who appeared in the pilot episode that aired back in 1969. The actor proceeded to work with the series for 47 Seasons as the character Bob Johnson. Sadly, he exited the series in 2017. He, however, did continue to make appearances during various Sesame Street-themed events.
The statement from his family read regarding his death: “The McGrath family has some sad news to share. Our father Bob McGrath, passed away today. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.”
The Sesame Street Workshop also took to social media to pen a final farewell to this incredibly talented man:
A founding cast member, Bob embodied the melodies of Sesame Street like no one else, and his performances brought joy and wonder to generations of children around the world,” the statement read in part. “We will be forever grateful for his many years of passionate creative contributions to Sesame Street and honored that he shared so much of his life with us.
