It’s A Wonderful Lifetime Movie Helped Repair Relationship
Sounds like filming the Lifetime movie The 12 Days Of Christmas Eve was transformative for Kelsey Grammer.
Talking to People, he admitted that he had some regrets about his relationship with Spencer. “I certainly regret I let her down a couple of times.”
He revealed that joining the NBC hit show Cheers in 1984 meant that he was away much of the time. Network schedules mean 20-hour workdays and little time to be with family. But, Kelsey and Spencer’s mother were also divorced, and that made them more estranged.
Obviously, she was a child of divorce. It was hard on us.
Therefore, when the 67-year-old actor saw this script, he realized it would be perfect for Spencer. Now, the challenge was to convince her to join in the holiday fun.
It took a little convincing, but Spencer was soon on board. Spencer knew this would be a fun experience. She also realized that the movie had a father-daughter dynamic that she was already familiar with. “There’s definitely aspects of this movie that resonate with me personally.”
First of all, playing daughter to your actual father is something unique. He’s been such an incredible influence on my craft and my performances and also my work ethic, so working with him was actually quite a pleasure.
Moreover, both father and daughter loved the overall meaning of this movie.
