On last week’s broadcast of the Today Show, Savannah Guthrie chugged a beer with actor Ashton Kutcher, live on-air. The segment had viewers flabbergasted. The two also made some cheeky comments on the morning show. The 50-year-old shook things up when she challenged the former Two and a Half Men star to chug an entire can of beer with her.

Ashton shared that he was participating in the New York Marathon on Sunday, November 6. He was raising money for the non-profit organization Thorn, which ends the exploitation of children online. Ashton also joked that he had a “chaffing issue” with his underwear in preparation for the 26.2-mile run. Savannah Guthrie suggested that he should have chaffing cream and beer so he can increase his “carb load.”

She asked co-host Carson Daly to bring out both. Ashton was shocked that they had cans of beer ready to drink. Savannah informed him that it was okay since it was Friday. The two counted to three before chugging the entire can of beer around 8 in the morning. Carson stood in the back as he applauded Savannah.

It took place during the pop culture segment when Carson brought up that Ashton ran in the NYC Marathon. He joked that the beer had something to do with it. Savannah Guthrie wanted to lay the record straight. She responded: “It was real beer!”

“Some people are like, ‘That wasn’t beer,'” Savannah Guthrie continued. “It was beer.”

Her co-host Hoda added: “It was real beer!” Dylan Dreyer informed viewers that Carson wouldn’t bring out “fake beer.” The Voice host confirmed that it was 100% real.
