Bringing Up Bates star Katie Bates is spilling the details of the hard and emotional times in her marriage to Travis Clark. Since the couple got married in December 2021, things haven’t been as easy as they may look. She’s getting real about the ups and downs of adjusting to married life. What has Katie shared with fans?
After Katie and Travis got married, she left her family in Tennessee to live with him in New Jersey. She said goodbye to her parents and siblings, which wasn’t easy. Most of her family still lives in Tennessee.
If you follow Katie on social media, you might have noticed that she had a lot of visitors in New Jersey shortly after she got married. She also seemed to head back to Tennessee fairly often.
Now, Katie Bates is sharing more about those first months of marriage and spilling what was going on at the time. In her recent YouTube video with Travis Clark, they addressed the assumptions fans have about them.
Katie Bates opens up like never before.
One fan submitted an assumption that reads:
“Early married life was a steep learning curve but has turned out to be the sweetest thing ever.”
In response, Katie said that it is a true statement. She explained, “The first few months, like the adjusting for me, it was very hard being in a new state, new friends, new church, away from my family, and I felt like I was very emotional.”
Katie Bates then went on to say that Travis would come home and she would be crying and feeling “sad.” She clarified that she did want to be with Travis and said she’s happy with him. But the adjustment was just hard. He even offered to move to Tennessee so they could be near her friends and family.
It ended up being a much bigger adjustment than she was initially expecting. She doubled down on the fact that moving to a new state and being away from her loved ones was the hard part. Everything was good with Travis though and their marriage was fine from the start.
