Welcome to Plathville star Lydia Plath was recently criticized for seemingly celebrating the Civil War and treating it as something “fun.” After receiving plenty of negative comments, she has changed her tune. Keep reading to get all of the details and see what happened.

On social media, Lydia doesn’t often touch controversial topics. Most of her posts are positive and might be about her family or the music she’s planning to release soon.

Her most recent Instagram post, however, got her many negative comments.

Lydia Plath takes part in a Civil War reenactment.

On her Instagram page, Lydia recently shared with fans that she took part in a Civil War reenactment. She shared a photo slideshow and a couple of video clips from this event.

Below, you can see some of the photos she shared. Lydia is in a light blue dress and it looks like one of her sisters, Amber, was a part of it too. Amber is in a darker blue dress.

Based on Lydia Plath’s post, it sounds like she enjoyed herself. Someone else who participated mentioned how “fun” this was, and Lydia responded and said, “It was a blast!”

But fans are unhappy to see her talking about the Civil War in this way.

Welcome to Plathville fans criticize her.

On Instagram and Reddit, Plath family fans are sharing their thoughts. One fan pointed out, “Remembering and celebrating are two very different things……..”

On Reddit, one Welcome to Plathville fan explained, “As the Civil War was fought over slavery, celebrating this era, especially in the southern United States, may seem like you wish that slavery was legal still and/or you agree with why the war was fought.”

Many others agree and say that her post seems “inappropriate.”

Some wonder if her homeschool education impacted how she views the Civil War today.

Lydia Plath has since “edited” her caption, acknowledging that she’s not “proud of this war.”

She wrote:

“May we always remember our history, where we came from and what we stand for! Am I proud of this war? Absolutely not! But we MUST NOT forget our history.”
