What Is Hallmark’s Girlfriendship About?
According to the Hallmark synopsis, Samara Williams’ (Mowry-Housley) has planned a big birthday event with her girls. But, she almost decides to forego the planned trip when she learns she’s finally being considered for a big promotion as Director of Finance. Samara has waited a long time for this!
However, her best girlfriends, Eva (Brown) and Renee (Greenwood) will not take no for an answer. Instead, the two pals are dead set on whisking Samara away for a surprise girls’ trip to Charleston.
Unfortunately, there is a booking mishap. There, the three women embark on a back-to-nature “rewilding” retreat which is nothing like the plans they had for Charleston. Could this be serendipity?
Ariella (Beaulieu) is leading the “Rewilding Woman Retreat.” She is a descendant of the Gullah Geechee people of Edisto Island off the South Carolina coast.
Furthermore, Ariella, through the charm of the island, helps these girlfriends uncover their true nature. That is because they are in nature where they are not distracted by those things that take up our time but do not nurture us.
Samara basks in the beauty of the island, as well as the new guy she meets. He is a doctor named Kareem (James). Kareem has some unrealized dreams of his own. He dreams of becoming a chef.
Samara is beginning to remember who she used to be and starts to listen to the call of her own inner artist. This is the first time she has painted in years.
By the time the trio leaves the island, they all realize that “there are no accidents and that that they are exactly where they need to be.”

The premiere of Girlfriendship is on Saturday, October 1, at 8 p.m., Eastern, on Hallmark. Encore showings include Sunday, October 2, at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 6, at 8 p.m., and Saturday, October 15, at 4 p.m., all times Eastern.
When Does Countdown To Christmas Start?
Hallmark’s Countdown To Christmas kicks off on Friday, October 21. Moreover, Tamera Mowry-Housley is starring in one of the 40 new movies premiering during the holiday season. She is starring in Inventing The Christmas Prince with Ronnie Rowe Jr. (The Man From Toronto, Jingle Bell Bride).
