The comedian built her talk show on the motto “Be Kind,” which she reiterated after each broadcast. During her September 18, 2021 opening, she opened up the show with an emotional plea and lengthy apology. Ellen knew she couldn’t move past this drama without clearing it up with her viewers.

“I learned that things happen here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously. And I want to say I am so sorry to the people who were affected.”

The premiere was her highest-rated episode in years, per The New York Times. Soon after, viewership declined even as she continued to book her dedicated A-list guests. In 2018, Ellen signed on for three more seasons. However, she knew she had to end the show sooner due to the increasing controversy.

Suddenly, she became the laughingstock of the internet. She still has her studio Ellen Digital Ventures, which is responsible for over 60 originals. Ellen is also in the process of producing forthcoming documentaries and history specials for Discovery. She made her return to standup with a Netflix special in 2018.

Ellen DeGeneres has kept quiet about her next venture. She no longer has her lifestyle brand to rely on. In his interview with Rolling Stone, Greyson revealed that Ellen promised him and his mom that his life would change. She purchased him a new piano and co-created the record label to help him with his pop career.

One text changed everything. Greyson told the outlet that Ellen DeGeneres tried to control his career, including his music and tour. She even had control over his public image. Grayson got his shots into the Hollywood star. He noted her “fake smile” even though he couldn’t talk to her one-on-one about his career. In 2019, he returned to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, but he felt that she was only using him. During the interview, she told Grayson that she was proud of him.

“When I look at the interviews and I look at my eyes, I can see so much anxiety,” he explained. “I can just see so much PTSD because I’m there holding on for dear life going, ‘I need this TV gig.’ I was 100 percent faking it, and [I felt like] she’s 100 percent faking with me, too.”
