Ken Jennings Well-Received By First Live Audience In Two Years
The first live audience cheered for Ken Jennings. Season 39 premiered with the permanent host on Monday, September 12. He introduced himself for the first time in front of a live studio audience. He was ecstatic to see the faces of the fans in front of him.
When Season 38 ended at the end of July, former champ Ken and actress Mayim Bialik were announced as the dual hosts of the game show and its spinoffs. They will continue to split duties throughout the season. Ken will host the show until January 2023. It’s the first time he’s hosted in front of a live audience. The special moment brought some meaning to him.
Ken Jennings expresses gratitude for the touching moment
Season 39 of Jeopardy! premiered with a wide-open shot of the studio audience. The show takes place at the Alex Trebek stage, formerly known as Stage 10 studios. The cheers erupted as announcer Johnny Gilbert introduced Ken Jennings to the stage. This moment made him feel good. The Jeopardy! champ expressed his gratitude to the fans who cheered for him.
“Thank you, Johnny, thank you, everyone!” Ken Jennings said with an emotional look on his face as he looked at the audience. “Welcome to the show. I am so honored to be announced as the host of Jeopardy! But I am more excited to be with you beginning a new season. With our Emmy-winning Jeopardy! staff and crew, and an audience back in the studio for the first time in two and a half years! Yes!”
Jeopardy! fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts. Most of them declared that it was Ken Jennings’ time to shine. Some still declare him the king of Jeopardy! Others were just happy that the popular quiz show was back with a live audience.
Jeopardy! has been making big changes lately
Executive producer Mike Davies talked about the changes taking place with the show. He took over as the showrunner in 2021 — after Mike Richards stepped down from his position. Just a few weeks prior, he was ousted from his role of host. The position was then given to Mayim and Ken Jennings, who swapped roles throughout Season 38.
Jeopardy! launched a podcast, announced several specials and spinoffs, and debuted its Hall of Fame class to be inducted this month. Producers want to make the show a sporting event for smart people and enthusiasts. Ken Jennings also received the title of “host” instead of “hosting Jeopardy!” This slight change in position made the viewers happy.
