Exclusive Clip: ‘True Crime Story’ With Hilarie Burton Morgan

True Crime Story

True Crime television is one of the most popular forms of reality television, with networks like Netflix and Hulu offering some great shows. However, few can compete with the original true crime providers. Sundance TV has a new season called True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here underway in association with AMC+.

What is True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here about?

Hosted by small-town native, advocate, justice seeker, and actress Hilarie Burton Morgan (One Tree Hill, The Walking Dead), new episodes of True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here put a spotlight on murder cases from small towns across America. In each episode, Hilarie meets with family members and local insiders to explore each unique story and the impact and challenges of small-town justice. New episodes will roll out weekly on Thursdays and will be available one week early on AMC+.

This newest episode sees the true crime reality TV series heading into Pocomoke City, Maryland. In this episode, a young single mother disappears without a trace. An investigation suggests she abandoned her children, while her family spends years proving she was murdered and finding her killers. Hilarie talks to the family and investigators about the disappearance and any leads they might have in the case.

Watch The Exclusive True Crime Story Clip

The exclusive clip from True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here starts with Hilarie Burton asking if there is any momentum in the case. The missing girl’s mother said she sent her daughter’s photos to the local news stations and asked them to put them on TV, and a still photo showed that they did. They also made up fliers and distributed them to Maryland and back.

An investigator said that in this part of the country, the “rumor mill” is a distinct way that information is shared between people in the community. There were hundreds of tips called into the police, from everyone from bus drivers to store clerks. They also heard from distant associates and people who went to high school with her.

That is when the mom said tips came in and nothing came of it, so she started her own investigation. She met her daughter’s neighbor who informed her there is another man living in her house. She said the police didn’t even know about him until she told them. That is where the clip ended, with the news that a possible suspect was found.
