‘GMA’ What Happened To George Stephanopoulos?
George Stephanopoulos has been missing from Good Morning America for three weeks now. Fans are wondering if he has lost his job.
However, his wife Ali Wentworth has given a clue as to what is going on with her husband. Despite her hints, there is still no concrete information about whether George will return to GMA or not.
Where is George Stephanopoulos?
George Stephanopoulos, 61, hasn’t been on Good Morning America for the last three weeks. With an absence for that long, many fans have started asking if he was fired to quit the show. Even when recent photos showed where he was, fans are still wondering if this means he has retired from the daytime talk show.
George’s wife, Ali Wentworth, has been busy on Instagram for the past three weeks and it is obvious where they are. George Stephanopoulos and Ali are vacationing in Greece. In her most recent photo, Ali is sitting down eating ice cream. She captioned the photo with, “Strong feelings about summer ending…”
From the sound of it, Ali and George Stephanopoulos chose to vacation in Greece this summer. Last week, there was another photo that had Ali and George together with the caption, “Greece with my Greek.” George’s parents are of Greek descent. His dad is a Greek Orthodox priest in New York. This could just be a vacation over the summer for George and his wife.
However, fans still want to know if George Stephanopoulos plans to return to Good Morning America, or if this vacation was a retirement celebration.
Will George return to Good Morning America?
George Stephanopoulos has been part of Good Morning America as a co-anchor since replacing Diane Sawyer in 2009. In 2011, he signed a massive deal to remain with GMA until 2021 for $105 million. However, with 2022 almost over with, many fans are wondering if his time is coming to an end on the show.
That question was especially concerning when he returned to This Week with George Stephanopoulos and had an interview with Senator Roy Blunt on Sunday. George could shoot these segments from anywhere, so he doesn’t have to be in an actual studio. Fans are still wondering if he is coming back to GMA anytime soon, or if he has finished his run there.
“The pics on his wife’s IG page almost make it seem like he’s retired or at least gearing up to retire,” one person poster on Twitter. Another wrote, “It’s not normal for hosts to be gone this long it’s been like two weeks now! Is he quitting and going to another show?!”
After 13 years on Good Morning America, George Stephanopoulos at least deserves a vacation, but at 61, he might be looking at retirement as well. George was last on GMA on August 12.
