Exclusive Interview: Jacklyn Collier On ‘The Engagement Plot’
These days, actress, podcaster, and entrepreneur, Jacklyn Collier, aka “Jacks,” has been spotted everywhere.
In just the past two weeks, she has walked the red carpet at the Hallmark Mahogany premiere, to moderating panels at the most recent Christmas Con, to participating in several podcasts, and the upcoming Bramble Jam event, her bubbly personality, and distinctive voice are synonymous with all things rom-com.
Coming up, she is in acting the highly anticipated movie, The Engagement Plot which stars her Love, Fall & Order co-star, Trevor Donovan, and Rachel Boston.
TVShowsAce caught up with Jacks to ask her a few questions about this movie. As always, she has some delightful insights!
What Is UPtv’s The Engagement Plot About?
What is The Engagement Plot about?
“The Engagement Plot is about a school teacher named Hanna Knight who goes on a reality TV dating show called The Price Of Love at the request of her best friend Carly Zides. (That’s me!)
Hanna falls in love with Will Preston on the show, but when he picks another woman, she is broken-hearted.
When Will’s business starts to tank because the fans of the show think he should have picked Hanna, Will comes to Hanna’s hometown to pretend to be engaged to her, hence ‘The Engagement Plot.'”
Jacklyn Collier Reveals Her Role In UPtv Movie
What is your role in The Engagement Plot?
“I play Carly Zides, Hanna’s lifelong best friend. Carly is the ultimate hype girl and loves Hanna very much.”
The Dream Role Of Playing Rachel Boston’s Best Friend
What was it like playing Rachel Boston’s BEST FRIEND??!!!!
“Playing Rachel Boston’s best friend was literally a dream come true. I had been wanting to work with Rachel for years, we had met a few times and I’ve always loved her work and thought she seemed so kind. We immediately hit it off when I arrived in Colorado.
Rachel is an absolute dream to work with – she is such a leader on set and an incredible actress. We had so much fun being silly on set and having fun moments, but there were so many heartfelt memories as well, and I think all of that is really showcased in the movie!”
Jacklyn Collier Shares How They Hit Rachel Boston’s Pregnancy
Rachel was pregnant during filming. Do you remember some of the clever ways they hid her pregnancy?
“Rachel was amazing and such a warrior filming at 7 months pregnant. Our director, Brandon Clark, and the team hid her pregnancy in all sorts of clever ways.
Sometimes it would be standing behind a counter, wearing an oversized coat, or holding something over her belly. Trevor Donovan also had to get creative in helping cover her!”
When Calls The Heart’s Brian Bird Movie Co-Producer
What was it like working with Brian Bird? I have this vision of him walking around and sharing sage pieces of advice at the exact moment you need it.
“That is absolutely so true of Brian. He is such a professional and inspirational person. Brian has been in the business a long time and has had such a varied and successful career, which is incredible, but one of the best things about him is his kind heart.
He picked me up from the airport when I got to Colorado! I couldn’t believe that the producer of the film was giving me a ride from the airport, but that’s just the type of person Brian Bird is – he makes everyone on his set feel like they are a part of a family.
Brian’s son, Taylor Bird, wrote The Engagement Plot and he is also an incredible talent. Brian’s wife, Patty, is one of the most intelligent and warm people I’ve ever met. I can’t wait to work with Brian Bird and his team again.”
What Jacklyn Collier Is Working On Now
Do you have anything new you are working on that you would like to share? Where can fans find you?
“My sister and I have a board game company called Bunde and we just started a podcast called Bundle Buzz that pre premieres on August 30th so would love it if people subscribed to that!
I also have a blast guesting on Hallmarkies Podcast and Deck the Hallmark.
I’m heading to Canada at the end of August to film a cameo in a Christmas movie – I can share more info on that soon! If people want to follow along on my adventures they can find it me @JacklynCTweets on Twitter and jacklyncollier on Instagram.”
