Alfonso Ribeiro Reveals His True Thoughts On ‘DWTS’ Hosting Gig
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro is returning to the Dancing With The Stars stage later this fall. After taking home the Season 19 Mirrorball Trophy, he was honored that the exec team offered him a cohosting job. And of course, he immediately accepted.
Many DWTS fans worry that the show is on its last legs now that it’s moving to Disney+ this September instead of ABC. But if anyone can revive the series, it’s Alfonso. Keep reading to see what he had to say ahead of the Season 31 premiere.
Alfonso Ribeiro says DWTS cast “feels like family”
Good Morning America is usually the place where fans get the inside scoop on upcoming DWTS seasons. The show plans to release information about the Season 31 cast, just as they do every year. But for now, GMA had the chance to chat with Alfonso Ribeiro himself. And he couldn’t be happier to get back in the ballroom.
“It feels great. Obviously, I’ve been a big fan of the show since the very beginning and to now be a cohost on the show and being back in the ballroom with all of my friends. They feel like family,” the 50-year-old actor revealed to GMA.

Alfonso Ribeiro and his Season 19 partner Witney Carson became very close during their time on the show. The entire DWTS cast is thrilled to have him back, but Witney Carson is probably the most excited of them all.
She penned a sweet Instagram post to her partner and referred to him as an uncle figure in her life.
Will there be drama among the cohosts this year?
However, it seems like not everyone is excited to have Alfonso back. Rumors are going around at the moment that Tyra Banks is actually livid at the thought of having a cohost.
“Tyra was basically told that she would have to co-host the show with Alfonso or not host the show at all,” an insider reportedly told RadarOnline. “Tyra tried to host the show solo, and it just didn’t work. She thought her personality and talent would be enough, but viewers didn’t agree. Focus groups showed they missed the chemistry of two hosts working together. Obviously, Tyra wasn’t happy about the decision, but she had no choice, if she refused, she would have been shown the door.”
Publically, both Tyra Banks and Alfonso Ribeiro have been nothing but professional with one another. But backstage, things might be a little bit different.
Do you think Alfonso and Tyra can get along onstage? More importantly, do you think a new cohost will save Dancing With The Stars? Leave your thoughts in the comments and follow TV Shows Ace online for the latest information. Stay tuned for more news!
