Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles first made its debut on Netflix in April 2022. The series has been extremely popular, landing itself in the “Kids Top 10” genre around the world. Will Samurai Rabbit be renewed for a second season? Keep reading to find out.
Samurai Rabbit Has Mixed Reviews
Season 1 of Samurai Rabbit had 10 episodes. Each episode follows the main character, Yuichi. He is a rabbit teenager who partners with his friends to help defend the city of Neo Edo. Since its debut on the streaming platform on April 28, 2022, it appeared on the U.S. Kid’s Top 10 for 19 days and on the U.K. Kid’s Top 10 on Netflix for 16 days.

It has also been popular in Demark, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Portugal, and the Czech Republic. Despite its rankings on Netflix, the animated program has received mixed reviews from its viewers.
One of the biggest gripes fans of Samurai Rabbit have is that the series is loosely based on the Usagi Yojimbo comic books by Stan Sakai. There are some inconsistencies with the story when compared to the comics by Sakai, which bothers some viewers. Most notably, the comic books all take place in the past while the animated show is focused on the future. The protagonist is also different from the comics.
People on Rotten Tomatoes have rated the show at 57%, while it has received a 6.6 on IMDb. Those aren’t the best ratings. So, it may seem iffy as to whether or not the series will be renewed for another season.
Will There Be A Second Season?
Although some of the reviews have been mixed, it has been confirmed that Samurai Rabbit will return for a second season. There aren’t any details as to what the storyline will be or when the new episodes will be released, but Netflix has renewed it.
Darren Barnet, Aleks Le, Mallory Low, and Shelby Rabara are all returning to voice characters for the animated show. Doug Langdale and Candie Kelty Langdale are also continuing to serve as co-creators for the program.

The news of the renewal of Samurai Rabbit for Season 2 came alongside Netflix’s summer kids announcements for 2022. Team Zenko Go is also going to return for Season 2. Mighty Express has been renewed as well for its seventh season along with a new spin-off. It has been announced that The Creature Cases has also been renewed. So, there will be no shortage of television to keep your little ones entertained over the summer.
While there is no news about when the next set of episodes of Samurai Rabbit will be available to stream, it is likely that the animation is already in the works. Since Netflix announced the renewal so quickly, the second season was likely part of a deal.
