‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Shocked Mayim Bialik Accepted Wrong Answer
Jeopardy! fans are shocked that host Mayim Bialik accepted the wrong answer. She’s normally cautious, especially when it comes to listening for production cues. But, fans have called her out for her blunders before. The actress has received criticism for her hosting ability.
She can’t win either way. Bialik is criticized for being too careful or for making too many mistakes. She’s been hosting the show for the sixth consecutive week while Ken Jennings takes a break. He is expected to return sometime next month before the end of Season 38.
Jeopardy! fans were aghast over the incorrect answer
This latest controversy comes after Megan Wachspress’s scandalous win on Friday, June 17. Some Jeopardy! fans think she didn’t deserve her win and lucky streak. Others argued that her fellow contestant Sadie was “robbed.” Just a week later, Mayim Bialik accepted a wrong answer.
The 46-year-old read the following clue: “100 years ago, in November 1922 Howard Carter made this discovery some 3,000 years ago after the death that caused its creation.”
Two-day champ Jeff Weinstock buzzed in and guessed, “What is King Tut?”
“More specific?” Mayim Bialik asked.
“What is King Tut’s body as a mummy?” Weinstock said.
“King Tut’s tomb, that’s correct,” Mayim Bialik said with a smile on her face.
Jeopardy! fans were aghast over the apparent wrong answer. They don’t know how she got “King Tut’s tomb” from “King Tut’s body as a mummy.” Some of them stormed Twitter to call her out for accepting the wrong answer. Others called out the vague answer itself.
- “I don’t think ‘King Tut’s body as a mummy’ is the same as ‘King Tut’s Tomb.'”
- “That was the longest clarification but not exactly the answer.”
- “‘Tomb’ does not equal ‘body as a mummy.'”
Even though Weinstock was lucky at that moment, he could not maintain his winning streak. The marketing lecturer was beaten out by his fellow contestant. During Final Jeopardy!, Joe Feldman from Bethesda, Maryland ended up as the new champ. He walked away with $22,900 in total winnings.
Mayim Bialik shares hosting duties with Ken Jennings
Mayim Bialik continues to share hosting duties with former champ Ken Jennings. Fans have been waiting a long time to see who will be announced as the new permanent host of Jeopardy! They’ve noticed differences between Bialik and Jennings. His programs would flow smoothly without issues, while Bialik continues to get called out for her blunders.

I not only have a problem with Weinstock’s answer (which was incorrect); I also take issue with the word “ago” in the question.
While she may have been good at acting on Big Bang Theory and her other shows, Ms. Bialik simply does not have the breadth of knowledge or skill set to host the beloved game show, Jeopardy. The fact that she has to continually pause and wait for production cues to tell her if the answer is right or wrong is distracting to both the contestants and viewers. And, then she feels the need to expand on contestants correct answers (I guess to show everyone she is smarter than them), sucking up preciously minutes on the game show clock and thereby leaving money and questions on the board. For awhile I thought it would be OK if she just did the tournament of champion games, but now I think she needs to leave the show all together. When she appears on the show, we cringe and try to turn the sound of as much as we can so as not to hear her fake interviews and condescending little quips. She just doesn’t get the more imporant rule that Alex Trebek taught us – JEOPARDY IS ABOUT THE CONTESTANTS, NOT THE HOST!!!!
The test is never “does this mean the same thing as the expected response.” The test is “does this fit the clue.” He did indeed discover the mummy along with the tomb, and both the mummy and the tomb resulted from a death 3000 years ago, so both are correct.
How can you have a Jeopardy host that mispronounces simple words like singer as sing ger and album as alb blum. Please bring Ken Jennings back.
Other “blunders” were with a question re: Edgar Allen Poe when she compared a Raven and a Crow as being similar and declaring the cursive written name of “Harriet Tubman” as being ILLEGIBLE when is was readable by all the TV fans …………..
Bring Ken back! Hearing her enunciate a hard g in sinG er is ridiculous. And the pauses after they give their answer is not smooth.
Yesterday she accepted 90210 as an answer, when it should have been Beverly Hills 90210.
Today, on a question about a large flightless bird, the Contestant answered Tassowary. When it’s a Cassowary.
