‘Sister Wives‘ Fans CONVINCED They’ve Been Lied To
Over the course of 16 seasons, Sister Wives fans have watched the Brown family overcome many obstacles. In the first season, they fled Utah due to religious persecution from the state. The Browns always claimed that their faith was a central part of their everyday lives. But how true is that?
In a recent Reddit thread, some fans believe the Browns haven’t been completely honest with the general public. Keep reading to learn about the ongoing conversation.
Sister Wives fans believe the Brown family may not be as pious as they want viewers to think
According to patriarch Kody Brown, faith drives the family. Since Sister Wives first aired, the show has always centered around the family’s fundamentalist Mormon beliefs. And polygamy is a core part of that faith.
But is it possible that the Browns just aren’t as faithful as they portray themselves to be?
In a recent Reddit thread, one user asked about the kind of movies Janelle likes to watch. They wanted to know if the movies were in line with her religious beliefs.
But does any of that really matter?
“The longer this show went on the more I believe that they aren’t really practicing any particular brand of Mormonism and just made it up as they went,” one Reddit user suggested about the Sister Wives cast.
Many other Redditors readily agreed. One user even brought up the time Kody threw Logan a Bar Mitzvah, a significant rite of passage in the Jewish faith. Another Redditor suggested that the Brown family changed their beliefs to justify whatever choices they were making at the time.

Online fans also think that Kody’s ego fuels the majority of family decisions
The Sister Wives Reddit threads rarely hold back — especially when it comes to patriarch Kody Brown. In one of the recent threads, fans dissected Kody’s true motives for moving the family from Las Vegas to Flagstaff.
“Thinking he could build in a year without utilities or a whole team of people like they did in Vegas?” a Redditor replied to the initial post. “I just don’t understand how you don’t even google ‘how to bring utilities to land’ before uprooting your whole family! My partner said that they think he did it on purpose to put his wives into chaos. This is why you don’t have four wives who placate your ego- you then think you’re smarter and more capable than you actually are.”
Many agreed that Kody’s ego was really driving the move.
