Johnny Depp Versus Amber Heard

They seemed to have a great relationship until they did not. Johnny met Amber in 2009 but they did not start dating until three years later, per NBC News. He had been with his longtime partner and mother of his two children, Vanessa Paradis for around fourteen years. This was a huge shock but he seemed ready to take the leap with Heard. In 2014, Amber is seen donning an engagement ring and it is eventually confirmed that the two actors are engaged. They get married the following year but there is some controversy about smuggling their dogs into Australia. Things clearly turn south for them in 2016 when Amber filed for divorce and a temporary restraining order against Depp. She alleges he threw a phone at her, claiming he was abusive throughout their time together.

No charges are pressed and in 2018, an op-ed is written by Heard saying she is a victim of domestic abuse. Though she never mentions Depp, he sues her for 50 million dollars for defamation. In 2021, she countersues him for 100 million dollars as both of their careers are now suffering. The trial began in April 2022 and both parties are not perfect. She was found to have used a bruise kit and he had exes claim he had been violent. Yet he admitted to having had struggles with substance abuse. People have spoken highly in his favor and, at this point, it is just a waiting game.

The Verdict Is In

No outbursts are allowed, per the judge. Yet the jurors have not filled out the compensatory and punitive amounts. Therefore, they must go back and fill out the number. It is now time for the verdict. As to the op-ed that Heard wrote, was it defamatory towards Johnny Depp, all of the answers were “yes.” She acted in malice. There are three segments thus far with many questions regarding the op-ed and defamation by Amber and Depp has proven she defamed him consistently. So far, Amber Heard is liable for a total of fifteen million dollars to Johnny Depp in a unanimous verdict.
