‘Sensitive’ Kendall Jenner Buckles Under Backlash?
Did Kendall Jenner buckle under the backlash? Khloe Kardashian shared how her younger sister reacted to the latest backlash. Fans criticized Kendall for not knowing how to cut a cucumber. The strange incident took place on a recent episode of the Hulu series The Kardashians.
Kendall was paying her mother, Kris Jenner, a visit. She was feeling hungry, so she helped herself to a cucumber in the kitchen. However, she didn’t know how to slice it and dice it. After Kris watched Kendall struggle for several minutes, she asked for a personal chef to come in and help her.
That scene went viral. Since then, fans mocked Kendall for not knowing basic kitchen skills.
Is Kendall Jenner too sensitive?
According to Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner isn’t taking well to the backlash. It could be that the supermodel is too “sensitive” and buckles under the pressure. She cried over the Pepsi ad backlash in an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Back in April 2016, Kendall appeared in a commercial for the soft drink company, which fans called “tone-deaf.”
She walked into the middle of a rally and handed a police officer a Pepsi. In the Season 14 premiere of KUWTK, Kendall Jenner shared her thoughts on the backlash. She said she was upset over the reaction. In fact, she was so mortified that she wanted to hide.
“Obviously, if I knew that this was going to be the outcome, I would have never done something like this,” Kendall Jenner said.
The episode started when she called her sisters Kourtney and Khloe about the backlash. They asked her if she was okay. In another scene, Khloe shared her support for Kendall.
“Kendall did a commercial and basically caused a huge controversy. It sucks because Kendall’s been taking the blame for it all,” Khloe said. “Kendall tries really hard to be socially conscious and aware of the jokes that she takes and to really think about how things affect other people, so it weighs really heavy on her heart.”
Around the time, fans criticized Kendall Jenner for appearing in the ad. Kendall broke down crying when she talked about people’s reactions to the ad. She said she wanted to appear in the commercial because of previous celebrities who had iconic Pepsi ads, like Britney Spears, Beyonce, and Michael Jackson. But hers became iconic for all the wrong reasons.
Khloe Kardashian talks about the backlash
#Cucumbergate is similar to the Pepsi ad controversy except it wasn’t political. Kendall Jenner honestly thought she was doing something normal. Khloe talked about the backlash on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. She admitted that Kendall was shocked by the reaction.
“Oh my god, she’s like, not happy about that. I feel so bad,” she said.
However, Khloe gave Kendall some sisterly advice. She reassured her that she’s still “the most beautiful human being in the world” even if she has “wild-looking toes” and “can’t cut a f***ing cucumber.”
Kendall Jenner hasn’t directly responded to the backlash. She could in a future episode of The Kardashians. Or, she could just simply ignore it.
