In the fall of 2020, Netflix put out a true-crime documentary that shocked the nation. American Murder: The Family next door follows the tragic story of the Watts family. Viewers watched in horror as family patriarch Chris Watts murdered his pregnant wife Shannan and two daughters, CeCe and Bella. And then he hid the bodies and carried on as if he were a worried father.

Now, the Watts family’s Colorado home is for sale. Keep reading to find out more.

The home looks much as it did when Chris Watts lived there

Not many people would jump at the chance to live in a house where such a brutal crime took place. But in the current housing market, buyers feel that they can’t be too choosy. The Watts family home is on the market in Frederick, Colorado for $660,000, as reported by The Sun. The publication reports that some rooms have received fresh coats of paint, while others retain the same paint job that Shannan picked out herself.

“The listing shows the same dark wood kitchen cabinets and the paint in some rooms remains the same, including the pale blue living area and bizarre bright blue laundry room and bathroom,” The Sun writes. “The 4,177-square foot home – newly built in 2013 when the family bought it for just under $400,000 – features five bedrooms and four bathrooms, along with three garage spaces.”

It’s a great size for a growing family — but it’s going to be really tough to look past the crime that took place there.

The Sun reports that measures are being taken to prevent true crime junkies from exploring the house. According to the official listing, interested buyers must show proof of funds before being allowed to tour the Watts family home.

The horrific murders shocked the nation

In 2018, Shanann and Chris Watts were expecting their third child together and everything seemed perfect to outsiders. But by August, Shanann and her two daughters vanished. The nation sat glued to their television screens, waiting for news about the family to resurface. And the whole time, Chris Watts sat idly by and feigned innocence. Many thought his behavior was suspicious and that he might have something to do with his missing family members.

Later, authorities arrested Chris and he gave them information that lead them to the bodies. By November, he “pleaded guilty to five counts of first-degree murder, one count of unlawful termination of pregnancy and three counts of tampering with a deceased human body.” He took the plea deal and avoided the death penalty, but many people in law enforcement are going to do everything they can to keep him in prison forever.

THIS SO CALLED AUTHOR MUST HAD BEEN SNORTING COCAINE WITH RONNIE WATTS!!! All she did was copy and paste everything we’ve already watched 1 million times! I won’t even call her an author. She didn’t even try to write a book it was just an easy way to make ca$h on behalf of the murdered victims PATHETIC!!!
