‘Basketball Wives’ Why Is Evelyn Lozada Officially Leaving The Show?
Basketball Wives returned for Season 10 earlier this week. Unfortunately, one of the series’ regulars Evelyn Lozada is noticeably missing from the cast. So, why has she decided to depart the show after all this time? Her reasoning makes a lot of sense.
Evelyn’s History With Basketball Wives
The series first premiered twelve years ago on VH1 revolving around ladies who had been, are, or were involved with pro basketball players. It started off in Miami and then spun off to California. Evelyn was on the original incarnation of the show and stayed throughout her whole series’ run. She did appear on the LA version briefly but was never a mainstay. Then the two shows combined in 2017 and she was a permanent fixture from 2017 on. During her run, she went through a lot and explored many different avenues.
For starters, Evelyn wrote a book called The Wives Association: Inner Circle. That same year, she also posed for PETA and married football player, Chad Johnson. The union ended a few months later but she rebounded the following year with another athlete. Evelyn found love with baseball player Carl Crawford. Sadly, they ended their romance after one child and four years. She continued to write, display her personal life, and show off her philanthropist side. Soon, it was time for her to part ways with Basketball Wives but why and why now?
Saying Goodbye
So why is Evelyn Lozada leaving after all of these years? Fans have come to depend on her as part of the ensemble and to help bring the drama. According to Meaww, she has her reasons. It seemed the mother of two was ready to move on to a new chapter of her life. She wanted to be open to new experiences that could come her way. This makes sense as she has explored other options but has really been dedicated to this series since its inception. Furthermore, it has impacted her family. She shared that her mom felt “relief” upon learning her time with the show was over.
“I am no longer going to do Basketball Wives. I think that it’s time for me to open up the universe to other things and it’s been a hard decision because I can do it with my eyes closed. But it’s so difficult and it takes so much energy and it’s not the most positive energy,” Lozada told E! News’ Just the Sip. The show will still go on and more drama will ensue. Hopefully, Evelyn will share her hot takes on the weekly happenings with fans and followers.
