Audrey Roloff Shields From Plane Radiation, Is It Real?
Former Little People, Big World star Audrey Roloff is shielding herself and her son, Radley, from plane radiation. But is this real, and what does it mean?
For the past few weeks, Audrey and Jeremy have been on a Maui vacation with their kids. They recently traveled back to Oregon, which included a long flight.
On her Instagram stories, Audrey Roloff shared a few photos from their travels. One picture, in particular, is raising questions.
Audrey Roloff shared about Radley’s anti-radiation blanket.
On her Instagram stories, Audrey shared a snap of her 6-month-old son, Radley sleeping on the plane, noting that he was wrapped in an EMF (electromagnetic field) blanket.
The Little People, Big World alum also shared the link to the product with fans.
In her post, Audrey writes, “Anti-radiation EMF blanket I originally bought for my belly while pregnant but brought for Radley on the plane because of the crazy high EMF exposure.”
Is plane radiation a real concern?
On Reddit, fans are questioning Audrey Roloff’s decision and wondering if she knows what she’s talking about.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “We are exposed to low levels of radiation when we fly. You would be exposed to about 0.035 mSv (3.5 mrem) of cosmic radiation if you were to fly within the United States from the east coast to the west coast. This amount of radiation is less than the amount of radiation we receive from one chest x-ray.”
So, it sounds like plane radiation is nothing to worry about in small doses. In her post, Audrey Roloff mentions “crazy high EMF exposure.” But that doesn’t match up with the CDC’s information.
It’s unclear why Audrey is having Radley use a radiation blanket, especially when he doesn’t appear to be flying often. Plus, Ember, 4, and Bode, 2, don’t appear to have EMF blankets on the flight.
Many fans on Reddit agree that this seems unnecessary, considering Radley is going on just a couple of flights.
Nonetheless, Audrey seems to think it’s a good idea to shield her baby from radiation. This isn’t the first time her health decisions have been called into question, however.
