But, fans also know that they fought all the time. Katie and Schwartz fought on nearly every season of Pump Rules. Their relationship was tested in Season 9 when it came to Schwartz’s new business venture with Sandoval. She didn’t like the name Schwartz & Sandy’s.

Fans blamed Schwartz for the way he treated Katie. They feel that played a role in the demise of their marriage. Now, it looks like he’s treating her better than he did when they were married.

In December 2021, fans called out Tom Schwartz for his treatment of Katie Maloney on the show. It became obvious during Season 9 of Vanderpump Rules. Schwartz didn’t defend his wife amid her feud with Tom Sandoval. Some fans took to social media to call him a bad husband.

One fan took to Reddit with the thread title, “Schwartz is a terrible husband.” Other fans took to the comment section to share their thoughts. Most of them noticed when he said their marriage is nothing but a piece of paper.

In that same episode, Tom Schwartz called Katie the love of his life. Fans didn’t buy it though. They don’t think he gave Katie the kind of love and respect she deserved.

One user called their marriage “toxic.” Those same fans don’t know how Katie and Schwartz made it for so long. At the time, fans were hoping this was the sign that she needed to leave their marriage.

Thankfully, Katie finally saw the sign. She previously revealed that she had to focus on her own happiness. Over those months, Katie realized that she was no longer happy being married to Tom Schwartz.

Treating her better now they’re separated?

He’s been gushing about her in recent interviews. Tom Schwartz made headlines for not removing his wedding ring. In an interview with Page Six, he admitted that he took it off “out of respect for Katie.”

“I don’t want it to seem like I’m clinging onto something, but the reason I kept wearing it is because A) it’s a beautiful ring and B) I still have a great love and admiration for Katie,” Tom Schwartz told Page Six. “I love her with all my heart.”

He went on to say that he’s still “madly in love with my wife, Katie.” Schwartz then said that he feels “vulnerable” now that he’s not wearing his wedding ring. He revealed that she’s been “so f***ing great” and “accommodating” during their separation period.

“We’ve been respectful of each other’s boundaries,” Tom Schwartz added. “But she’s my girl. Even though we’re separated, I would do anything for her.”
