Stassi Schroeder Opens Up About Her ‘Seven Days In Hell’
Stassi Schroeder opened up about her “seven days in hell.” The Vanderpump Rules alum released her new book, Off With My Head: The Definitive Basic B**** Handbook to Surviving Rock Bottom. It’s the follow-up to her first book, Next Level Basic: The Definitive Basic B**** Handbook. In the new book, Stassi talks about the time when she was dumped from her PR company, fired from the Bravo series, and lost her podcast, Straight Up with Stassi.
Bravo fired her alongside Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni. At the time, their past racist social media posts and comments resurfaced. Though they issued an apology, it wasn’t enough. They were subsequently fired two days later. Stassi recalled the worst week of her life that stemmed from the fallout.
Pump Rules alum acknowledges her mistakes
Stassi Schroeder wrote her new book in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic. She was inspired to publish it after her VPR firing and downward spiral. It all happened when former cast member Faith Stowers shared her experience as the only Black cast member on the show. She recalled a time when Stassi and Kristen accused her of a crime she didn’t commit.
In addition, Stassi’s past racist comments and actions came back to haunt her. Bravo decided to move forward with Vanderpump Rules Season 9 without Stassi, Kristen, Max, and Brett. Stassi and Kristen both issued statements on their respective Instagram accounts, as well as Max and Brett. The 33-year-old admitted her “huge” mistakes before she got “canceled” in June 2020.
In her book, Stassi Schroeder claims she had “zero right to accuse” Faith of a crime. She explained that she only “sensationalized” the situation “for the sake of a good podcast story.” The former fashion blogger maintains that her actions weren’t race-motivated. Rather, she couldn’t stop thinking about Jax Taylor cheating on Brittany Cartwright with Faith, which happened during Season 6 of Pump Rules.
Stassi Schroeder reveals how it all happened
On June 9, 2020, Bravo announced that they fired Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute after eight seasons on the show. Stassi claims the producers fought to keep them on the show and were “outraged” at the network’s decision. Yet, the decision was made at the height of the Black Lives Matter movement protests. Stassi then recounted her “seven days in hell,” which included losing her publicist and agents, a series of endorsement deals, as well as the end of her podcast.
Per Us Weekly, the former reality star revealed that Bravo was working on a VPR spinoff that included the original cast members. Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark’s Italian wedding going to be the central focus, which would’ve kicked off the new series. She was also 10 weeks pregnant with her daughter Hartford at the time. This comes amid the rumors that producers are currently working on a spinoff series that would bring back the original cast members.
Reconnecting with former co-stars
Stassi Schroeder had a tough week, which she also refers to as the “canceling of 2020.” She received a text message from Kristen and a missed call from her lawyer, as well as a call from Lisa Vanderpump. However, Stassi wasn’t in the mood to talk and ended up in a “fetal position” most of the week.
She later reconnected with Vanderpump at the Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills just one year later. Stassi Schroeder notes they had an “oddly comforting” conversation. She did reach out to Kristen via text message after their friendship fell apart in Season 8. Stassi said they “let go” of their past and focused on being there for one another.
