Amber & Trent are close to being empty-nesters

7 Little Johnstons just premiered Season 11 of their popular reality show. Now only two of the children still live at home. Older kids Jonah, Elizabeth, and Anna all live on their own.
During a recent season, Amber and Trent considered adopting to expand their brood. However, they instead opted to open their home to an exchange student from Finland.

TLC posted a 7 Little Johnstons bonus clip on their social media platforms. In the clip, Jonah and Trent talk about their respective careers as car salesmen. Longtime viewers of the show remember Amber and Trent’s negative reaction to Jonah selling cars.
However, when the family patriarch quit his job as a groundskeeper at a local college, he went into the same field. Both Trent and Jonah are now car salesmen.
During the clip, Trent and Amber drop in on Jonah to catch up on how life is treating him. At one point, Trent asks his son how many cars he’s sold the last year. Jonah answers that he’s sold 97 cars.
Despite his successful career, he tells his parents that he is having some money trouble. While he has enough in savings, his income varies from month-to-month, depending on how many cars he sells.
While Amber and Trent listen, they don’t offer their son any financial help. Trent explains why.
