A PAW Patrol spin-off is heading to Nickelodeon. Rubble is headlining his own show. On Thursday, March 24, Nickelodeon announced the first spinoff series from the popular animated cartoon. Rubble is an English Bulldog who looks mean and rough (excuse the pun) but has a soft heart.

This news coincides with PAW Patrol’s Season 10 renewal. This also comes after the movie sequel PAW Patrol: The Might Movie was announced. It will premiere sometime in 2023, ahead of the company’s 10th anniversary. Rubble is the construction worker of the Paw Patrol group. He uses his tractor shovel to dig in missions.

Nickelodeon wants to change its lineup

Nickelodeon is hoping to expand with some of the most popular franchises, such as PAW Patrol. The network also wants to shift its focus on SpongeBob SquarePants, Transformers, and other spinoff series. The Paramount kids brand is also looking towards theatrical releases and recommissions.

Earlier this week, during the annual upfront presentation, the network says it will “supercharge” its franchises with new animated series, pre-school and live-action content across its digital, linear, and streaming platforms. That also includes plans at the box office, family festivals, and live tours.

Nickelodeon already renewed SpongeBob SquarePants for the 14th season. PAW Patrol has given the 10th run on the network. However, there is little information on the spinoff series focused on Rubble, per Deadline. The award-winning animated series follows Chase, Everest, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Sky, Tracker, and Zuma on action-packed adventures and missions.

According to Television Business International, there are currently over 40 projects in active production for Nickelodeon Animation across its series and movies. The 2022-23 season will be a busy one with the return of the ’90s Nick Jr. mascot Face in Face’s Music Party, which is a new interactive variety show. It also includes renewals of shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Big Nate, Blaze and the Monster Machines, and Middlemost Post.

PAW Patrol will continue to be a mainstay

PAW Patrol isn’t going away anytime soon. It has become a Nickelodeon mainstay for over a decade. It just grew in popularity over the years. Kids love watching cute dogs go on rescue missions.

The movie adaptation of the Nick Jr. series grossed $145 million globally. It also has a powerful merchandise empire. Nickelodeon wants to grow this franchise as much as possible. Last month, Brian Robbins, Chief Content Officer, Movies and Kids & Family for Paramount+, talked about its loyal fanbase.

They’re always looking for more from the PAW Patrol universe and Nickelodeon plans to deliver on it. Parents and kids alike can also expect even more new content, such as an all-new CG-animated Dora the Explorer animated series, the live-action/animated hybrid Blue’s Clues movie, and more.
