Are you ready?

What Is Happening In The Deadliest Catch Season 18?

According to The Futon Critic, the Deadliest Catch captains have spent the past 17 years dealing with big waves, “intense rivalries,” and difficult quotas. However, nothing compares to the obstacles in Season 18.

For the first time in 25 years, the Alaskan government has canceled the red crab season. This leaves all the captains scrambling.

First, the crafty Captain Sig Hansen returns to his Norwegian roots. The  F/V Northwestern captain heads over to Norway in search of the red king crab. However, this is no easy gig. He does not bring his famed boat to the land of the Hansens.

Instead, Sig must start from scratch and convert an old Coast Guard ship into a fishing vessel, Next, he needs to forget his Bering Sea know-how and learn where the crabs live in the Barents Sea. Lastly, he must find a reliable team of fishermen. This is a gamble. Is it all worth it?

To add to the drama, Sig wants to be home in time for his granddaughter’s birth. Yes, his daughter Captain Mandy Hansen Pederson is having a baby!

The next best thing to red king crab is golden king crab. Both bring a big payday. However, the golden king crab lives four times deeper than the red. That means they are harder to find.

Moreover, only two boats are up for this challenge. They are Captain Johnathan Hillstrand with the F/V Time Bandit, and Captains Josh Harris and Casey McManus, and the F/V Cornelia Marie.

Captain Jake Anderson and the F/V Saga are back. His solution is to fish for black cod. However, the boat has neither the quota nor the tools to fish them. Therefore, Jake turns to Captain Sean Dwyer of the F/V Elinore J. Jake asks Sean about securing the black cod quote.

However, Captain Sean will only accept this deal if Captain Jake puts it all on the line. He wants the F/V Saga’s pink slip as collateral. In addition, Jake’s crew will need to learn how to catch black cod. Otherwise, Jake Anderson may be forced to give up the F/V Saga.

Captain Sean Dwyer of the F/V Elinore J will not be catching black cod, but instead, Dungeness crab. They are not big moneymakers. However, they are easy to catch. They may be able to make this financially beneficial if they can catch a lot of this crab. Can they catch a huge quantity?

Last season, Captain Rip Cartson of the F/V Patricia Lee lost a crew member on the deck. Now, he is determined to keep his crew safe. How can they continue their work, and still honor their friend?

Lastly, Captain Keith Colburn’s vessel, the F/V Wizard, still needs some repairs. However, Captain Keith is determined to catch bairdi snow crab this season. What sorts of adventures will the F/V Wizard captain have this season?

Where Is Wild Bill?

Captain Wild Bill Wichrowski and the F/V Summer Breeze are not in the Deadliest Catch Season 18 preview. It is not clear why he is missing. Moreover, the popular captain has not posted any information on his Instagram.
