Is ‘My 600-Lb. Life’ Leaving Discovery+?
There is chatter on Facebook and Reddit that TLC’s My 600-Lb. Life is leaving Discovery+. Is TLC removing My 600-Lb. Life from the Discovery Plus streaming library? How will fans stream old episodes of the series? Is it being moved somewhere new? Unfortunately, this isn’t just some nasty rumor from nowhere.
My 600-Lb. Life is technically leaving the Discovery+ streaming library and going somewhere else. What streaming service will fans have to pick up to continue rewatching old episodes of their favorite TLC series? Why is the series moving and where is it going? Keep reading and we’ll explain.
My 600-Lb. Life is leaving Discovery+
As several outlets have reported over the past week, including The Verge, Discovery+ is merging with another streaming service. This means Discovery Plus is going to fuse together with another streaming service. For cord-cutters that happen to have both streaming services, this isn’t horrible news. Instead of paying for two different streaming services, subscribers can save a little money dialing it back to one. The streaming services could decide to up the price after joining forces, though.
What streaming service is Discovery Plus merging with?
So, this is where the news gets a bit surprising. Discovery+ is merging with HBO Max. HBO Max is a streaming service a lot of people don’t really pay for because they get it free as an AT&T customer for no additional charge.
Presently, there isn’t really a timeframe on when this merger is going to happen. Likewise, there isn’t really any information on if the two will just merge into one of the current streaming platforms. Or, if the two will merge into a brand new platform.
My 600-Lb. Life moving isn’t a bad thing
There really isn’t a downside to this merger because subscribers will go from two streaming services to one. The only potential downside would be if the price changes to reflect it being two streaming services morphed together. Discovery Plus does run a little cheaper than most streaming services, though. So, they likely couldn’t bump the price too much without losing customers.
