The Real Reason Audrey Roloff Didn’t Have A Home Birth With Radley
Little People, Big World alum Audrey Roloff has been telling fans all about the birth of her third child, Radley Knight. The baby boy arrived in November of 2021. After his birth, Audrey shared his birth story in her newsletter, which subscribers can receive via email. But this week, she decided to share the birth story more widely and posted it on Instagram.
Due to the length of the birth story, Audrey broke it up into five separate posts. She shared pictures alongside each part of the story. You can check out the first part here.
In one part of the story, Audrey Roloff explains, “This was my first birth outside of the hospital. I had a prior history of fast labors and postpartum hemorrhaging… but we talked a lot with my midwives about this prior and had a great plan in place this time.”
Rather than giving birth in a hospital this time, she had Radley in a birthing center.
When Audrey posted about the baby’s birth, fans flooded her Instagram messages with questions. One fan wanted to know why she didn’t have the baby at home.
Audrey Roloff spills why she didn’t have a home birth.
One fan asked Audrey Roloff, “Why not a home birth?”
In response, the TLC alum wrote, “I didn’t know where our home was gonna be because we were really hoping to have some property by now… and I wasn’t sure what the condition of our home would be like so I wanted to lock in the birth center option (you have to decide if you want to do it there about halfway through your pregnancy). I didn’t want to be birthing in a construction zone and I thought that might be likely if I chose the home route. Also the birth center I chose was closer to the hospital and because of my past hemorrhaging I wanted to be closer just in case.”
So, it sounds like Audrey took the safest route for both herself and baby Radley. Fortunately, everything seemed to go smoothly at the birth center, and both mom and baby are doing great now.
So, does it surprise you that Audrey Roloff didn’t have a home birth? Do you think the birth center was a better idea? Share your thoughts in the comments section below. For more Roloff family news, come back to TV Shows Ace.
