‘Love Is Blind’ Creator Claps Back At Shake Chatterjee Over Unfair Claims
We all know that reality TV producers have to pick and choose which segments to air. But now that Love Is Blind Season 2 is over, one contestant believes that his representation on the show was completely unfair.
Viewers quickly dubbed Shake Chatterjee to be the Season 2 villain. Fans did not receive his derogatory comments towards his then-fiancee Deepti Vempati well. And things only got worse at the reunion special when Shake feuded with the hosts, Nick and Vanessa Lachey.
But now, Shake claims the show painted him in a negative light. But the show’s creator also had something to say about that.
The Love Is Blind creator denies they edited Shake Chatterjee to make him seem worse
When viewers tuned into the Love Is Blind reunion special, Shake Chatterjee began by saying he was worried about how the special would be edited. In response, most of his costars rolled their eyes, and the reunion carried on.
“If we were afraid of that comment, we could have taken it out. But I’m not afraid of that comment, because during this process, we want to give people the opportunity to say whatever they want to say,” Love Is Blind creator Chris Coelen told Variety in an exclusive interview. “Every other member of the cast seems to think that he got a pretty good edit.”
Season 2 star Natalie Lee even said that she thought the version of Shake onscreen was more “watered down” than the real Shake they’d been dealing with for months. Nick and Vanessa Lachey even famously bickered with Shake during the special.
“We don’t tell them what to say or not to say, it’s their thing,” Coelen continued. “Shake was jumping in from the word ‘go.’ Nobody tells him to do that. That’s what he decided to do, he wants to get his point of view across and I guess, good for him.”
Based on his social media posts, it seems like Shake Chatterjee is getting more comfortable with his villain role.
The Love Is Blind star’s words really impacted other castmates
On his public social media channels, Shake says he was only being truthful. But even if that’s what he really believes, his words still hurt people.
“Shake and I had conversations about how physical intimacy and that chemistry was lacking between us,” his ex-fiancee Deepti Vempati BuzzFeed. “But to watch it back and see how he did it — it was kind of like, ‘Oh, look at me, I’m this cool dude that’s just gonna talk shit about you to my friends.’ You don’t talk about somebody who is your fiancé, let alone a best friend — or even just a real friend — that way.”
Fortunately for Deepti, it seems like love might be blossoming with someone new these days.
