WWE At MSG 3/5: Full Results And Notes

The WWE returned to their home base of Madison Square Garden on Saturday night. The Road to Wrestlemania was kicked into high gear with nearly every title on the line. Two mystery opponents delivered in the double main event against Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. Becky Lynch put her Raw Women’s Title on the line in a Triple Threat Match in a tease for her Wrestlemania match.

WWE at MSG: Full Results

The Alpha Academy def. RKBro (Randy Orton and Riddle)
Otis pins Riddle with a Vader Bomb. After the match, Orton hits the RKO on Otis and Chad Gable.

US Championship: Finn Balor def. Damian Priest by DQ
Damian Priest was disqualified after hitting a low bow on Finn Balor.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) def. Big E and Kofi Kingston
The Usos retained their titles after hitting a 3D on Kofi Kingston for the three count.

Raw Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch def. Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair
Bianca Belair hit the Kiss of Death onto Rhea Ripley, appearing to have the match won. Becky Lynch ran into the ring, tossed Belair to the outside, and covered Ripley to retain her championship.

Roman stands tall

WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) def. Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins was introduced as the mystery opponent to the MSG crowd, so the fans were pumped for an epic battle. What they got with a short match that saw Reigns get the win with a spear and passing Rollins out with a guillotine.

Drew McIntyre def. Sami Zayn
Samy Zayn came to the ring first and vocalized his displeasure of losing the Intercontinental Championship. Just 24 hours earlier on WWE Smackdown, Zayn lost the IC Title to Ricochet due to interference from Johnny Knoxville. The match was short and sweet with McIntyre getting the win with a stiff Claymore boot.

Ronda Rousey and Naomi def. Charolotte Flair and Sonya Deville
After winning the Royal Rumble, Ronda Rousey made it clear who she wanted at Wrestlemania. The former UFC and WWE Champion set her sights on Charlotte Flair and the two have been at each other’s side ever since. After a hard-fought tag team match, Rousey forced Charlotte to tap with an armbar just weeks before their match at Mania.

WWE at MSG: Brocks’ beatdown

WWE Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) def. Austin Theory
There were rumblings prior to the show at Madison Square Garden. Fans were wondering who the mystery opponents would be for the title matches, speculating about the potential return of Cody Rhodes. In the end, it was Austin Theory who challenged Lesnar, much to the chagrin of the crowd. Lesnar got the win after taking Theory to suplex city and an F-5. After the match, Roman Reigns and The Usos came to the ring and beat down Lesnar.

News and Notes

Miz TV gets stunned
The Miz made his way out to a nearly sold-out Madison Square Garden crowd. As expected, The Miz was met with a chorus of boos before his guest Kevin Owens made his way to the ring. The main topic on tonight’s show was Logan Paul, The Miz’s tag partner at Wrestlemania. Owens brushed off Miz’s ego and ended the segment by giving the host a Stone Cold Stunner.

The Hype Train
Heading into the WWE at MSG, fans were hoping for a major surprise. The internet dirt sheets hyped up the possibility of a returning Cody Rhodes, but it was not to be. The event didn’t have any big surprises or must-see moments but seemed to satisfy the fans in attendance.
