‘American Idol’ Update: Where Is Noah Davis Now?
What happened to American Idol alum Noah Davis and what is he up to these days? The Season 16 contestant has achieved mild success since trying out for the show. He released new music and even performed live in concert. Noah auditioned on the show with his rendition of “Stay” by Rihanna, in which he played on the piano.
He was the contestant who used the slang word “wig” during his competition. Judge Katy Perry fell in love with his personality. However, Noah ended up confusing judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. Katy knew exactly what he meant, explaining to Jimmy Kimmel that it’s a term to describe someone who sings “so well that the wig flies off.”
Katy and Noah’s interaction went viral on social media. Suddenly, American Idol fans wanted to know more about Noah and see how far he makes it on the show.
Who is Noah Davis?
Unfortunately, he did not make it far. Noah was cut from the Top 24 after the final judgment. He stood out because he admitted that he wanted to adopt an alpaca during his audition. Noah used his quirky personality to stand out in the competition.
During the American Idol Season 16 finale, Ryan Seacrest gave Noah his own legally adopted alpaca. While he didn’t walk away with a recording contract, his dreams of becoming an alpaca owner came true. Since then, American Idol fans wouldn’t recognize Noah these days. His looks have dramatically changed since embracing himself.
He came out and became a role model in the LGBTQ community. The former Idol contestant used his platform to become an inspiration to others. In November 2021, Noah tweeted that he was “literally depressed and in the closet” when he appeared on American Idol. Yet, he was determined to make his dreams come true.

Noah also called out the show. In another tweet, he admitted that the American Idol crew never “helped me make my music or my career.” Since his time on the show, he released his own music. Thankfully, he doesn’t need their help because he’s amassed 6.3 million followers on Spotify.
Noah signed a contract with Valiant Music Ventures. In October 2021, he released his album, F*** Flowers, which hit the Top 5 Pop Albums chart on iTunes. Earlier this month, Noah released his single “Hush Little Baby,” which has received praise from American Idol fans.
None of his music is for kids. They contain strong language and adult themes, which is a stark contrast to his image on American Idol. While his stint on the show was short-lived, he has a successful music career. He’s now unapologetically himself and inspires others to do the same. American Idol returns Sunday, February 27, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
