Maks Chmerkovskiy Says ‘He Will Never Be The Same’ In Emotional Post
Ukrainian dancer Maks Chmerkovskiy frequently travels for work. After leaving DWTS, be became a judge on the Ukrainian versions of Dancing With The Stars and World Of Dance. As such, often goes back and forth from Ukraine to his home in the United States.
But now that the crisis in Ukraine is escalating, Maks says he will never be the same. He shared a very emotional post on his Instagram page where he described his thoughts on the situation.
As the Ukrainian invasion heats up, Maks Chmerkovskiy is reliving a traumatic part of his past
Maks Chmerkovskiy was born in 1980 in Odessa, Ukraine while it was still part of the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union didn’t fall until the early 1990s, so Maks remembers the chaos from his childhood. Now in his adult life, he’s dealing with the same uncertainty and fear again.
In his vulnerable Instagram post, the 42-year-old dancer describes the situation at hand. About halfway through his message, sirens begin to blare in the background. It’s not immediately clear if they are air raid sirens or ambulances, but it’s still very concerning.
In the next video, Maks is filming at a park. There are families in heavy coats with suitcases as they prepare to flee their homes.
“There’s ALWAYS another way! WAR is NEVER an answer!” the dancer captioned his post before adding the hashtag, #standwithukraine.
“P.S. I will never be the same. This is stressful and I’m getting old feelings back, like I’ve done this before. This does feel like the way it was when and why we left in the 90s. Like my old PTSD I’ve finally fixed is coming back. I literally only just forgot about those ‘always on the edge’ feelings and actually started worrying about things like bbq grills. I’m crying as I’m typing this because all man deserves to worry about ‘bbq grills’ and not f—— war. Hug your loved ones.”
Fans and castmates alike shared their well wishes in the comments.
The dancer vows to update fans on his condition
A little later, Maks posted another video. It’s clear that he’s on the verge of tears as the sirens continue in the background. He admits that he really wants to go back home. His wife Peta Murgatroyd and their son are back in the United States. The dancer adds that he feels fortunate that he does have a passport that will let him go back to the U.S., but others are not as lucky.
He goes on to say that he’s about to go into a bomb shelter for his safety as he addresses the Russian government directly. At the end of his message, Maks pleads with fans not to bombard his wife Peta with messages. It goes without saying she’s very concerned and doesn’t need the extra stress. Before signing off, he promises to keep fans updated on the situation.
This is all we know for now, but Maks Chmerkovskiy will likely be back in the United States as soon as he is able. Keep following him online for more updates on the frightening situation at hand. We’ll also fill you in as soon as we hear more news from Maks.
