Meghan McCain Continues To Mourn Her Late Father
Meghan McCain admits that she still mourns her late father, Senator John McCain. He passed away at the age of 81 in 2018. Grief never goes away and she admitted that. In her latest Instagram post, Meghan revealed that it’s “been a weirdly hard few weeks” since those feelings crept back.
On Wednesday, February 16, Meghan took to Instagram to share a throwback photo of herself with her dad. Both of them smiled in their matching white T-shirts. Sadly, John McCain passed away on August 25, 2018, after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He was in treatment at the time of his passing.
Meghan McCain talks about grief
In her Instagram post, Meghan McCain opened up about her feelings of grief. As most people know, it can come out of nowhere. She’s been “missing” him for the past few weeks. The Bravo fan spoke out about the grief that she’s been going through lately, noting that it truly never goes away.
“Been a weirdly hard few weeks missing him,” Meghan McCain wrote in her Instagram post. “Grief never goes away, sending love to all of those who are also on the journey.”
She received over 18,000 likes on her post. Most of Meghan’s friends and followers took to the post to share their support and prayers. Eric Kelly wrote, “blessings 🙏🏾,” while Eve Barlow added three red heart emojis. Most of the comment section was filled with red heart emojis after that.
Others shared their thoughts on Meghan McCain’s late father. Leslie Jordan called him “A true American hero.” Actress Selma Blair said: “He was a great.” Meghan’s mom, Cindy McCain, wrote: “Love you honey!”
Meanwhile, other fans shared their experience with grief. Some are still going through that journey even though they’ve lost someone decades ago. One fan noted that grief “comes in waves.” Others found comfort in Meghan’s post, knowing they’re not alone.
The View co-host also suffered a miscarriage
Meghan McCain has gone through a lot of grief. Not only did she lose her father, but she also experienced pregnancy loss. In an episode of People’s “Me Becoming Mom” podcast, Meghan opened up about her miscarriage. While she still struggles with it, she feels comforted knowing that her unborn child is with her father.
“It’s still emotional. I still think of it as the baby I could’ve had,” Meghan McCain told host Zoë Ruderman. “It’s very sad. The only thing that gives me peace and solace… I feel like that child is with my dad in the afterlife or in heaven.”
She even shared the details of her miscarriage in a New York Times op-ed in July 2019. In the piece, Meghan called it “mentally, emotionally, physically, debilitating.” The TV personality admits that the “physical process” was “grueling.” Meghan is now a mom to her 16-month-old daughter Liberty Sage with her husband Ben Domenech.
