Matt Roloff Bombshell: Something Older Than LPBW

Matt Roloff shared a photo on Instagram last night that was both spooky and mystical. It was very different from the types of photos he usually shares on his profile. He explained it was something he had created long before LPBW even existed. Likewise, he admits he does not believe this creation has ever been featured or even mentioned on the show. The LPBW star continues to explain this mine shaft was created back in the early ’90s.

“Now it’s grown fully into what was [envisioned] many (20 years ) ago.” He continued to explain.

One fan popped into the comments to ask Matt further questions about the photo. They wanted to know what vision behind the mine shaft was. Matt thought it was a great question. He was happy to respond.

What was his vision behind the mine shaft?

According to Matt Roloff, some of his friends were hiking deep in the backcountry of Oregon when they came across a mine shaft. They sent Matt Rolof a photo of it. He fell in love. But, he was realistic. He didn’t think he would ever be physically capable of hiking to see the mine shaft in the photo. So, he decided to do the next best thing. He decided to build one just like it.

Matt Roloff explained: “soooo I decided at that point I would build the exact thing I saw in the photo. Several months later (1994 ish) we had this 60’ mine shaft. It has a trap door into the floor of the barn above it. Once they first started filming #lpbw in approx 2003 (little people big dreams) and even the precursor to that.”

(True story that few know) we locked up the trap door so production could have a safe secure barn to use.. few people know this history of the “mine shaft”. … and no. Despite popular rumors… This tunnel is Not connected to the western town tunnels. Its a very seperate underground tunnel system.”

LPBW fans think they have seen it before

In the comments, LPBW fans admit they vaguely recall hearing about the mine shaft once before. They noted they believed it is where the family took shelter during a hurricane. Some questioned if it was safe. Some begged Matt Roloff for a walk-through. And, a few proposed it would be a great place for a haunted feature for next year’s pumpkin season.

Unfortunately, Matt Roloff didn’t seem to stick around to answer any additional questions about the little bombshell he dropped on Instagram last night.
