‘Love Is Blind’ Creator Addresses Casting Season 2 Controversy
The first five episodes of Love Is Blind Season 2 are out on Netflix. Some fans are really enjoying all the drama, but other fans are a little upset.
Many fans posted online they feel that the show’s casting department really missed the mark when it comes to diverse body casting. The backlash is so widespread that the show’s creator recently addressed the criticism. Read on to see what he had to say.
Love Is Blind featured curvy women in the pods — but didn’t give them much screen time at all
Many fans felt really excited to see promos for Love Is Blind Season 2 — especially when they realized full-figured women might be part of the cast. We saw two beautiful women, Chassidy and Hope, previewed in the trailers. However, they were barely shown in the first few episodes.
The whole point of Love Is Blind is to fall in love with someone based solely on their personality. So fans did feel a little annoyed, especially since Chassidy and Hope seemed so charming when we did get to see them.
Love is Blind put 2 curvier women on the show for season 2 then proceeded to give them no tv time on a show based off of looks being unimportant…ok lol

Many fans also got angry when one contestant, Shake, asked pointed questions in the pods to try to figure out a woman’s size. He asked if they enjoyed exercise, fitness, and even if he would be able to lift them onto his shoulders. Needless to say, that was very off-putting.
And a lot of fans are scratching their heads wondering how Shake ended up with a fiancee and Chassidy and Hope didn’t.
Fans made their opinions very clear online and now the creator is speaking his piece.
So is love really blind after all? The creator thinks so
Love Is Blind fans’ concerns are valid. But the show’s creator wants people to know that it didn’t end up this way on purpose.
“Both Season 1 and Season 2, we really tried to have a diverse pool of participants in every sense of what that word means — whether it’s experience or body type or ethnicity or whatever,” executive producer and creator Chris Coelen explained to the Los Angeles Times.
“There’s only so many people that we showed,” he continued. It just so happened that a lot of the people they showed happened to be conventionally attractive.
Some Love Is Blind fans that the show could be rigged or that some of the Season 2 leads might be actors. But again, Coelen shut that down.
“It’s certainly not like we said, ‘Let’s stack the deck,’” he explained. “No, we had every kind of person that we could find come into this environment, and everybody had an equal opportunity.”
How do you feel about the whole situation? Do you wish Love Is Blind Season 2 had more body diversity? Be sure to let us know what you’re thinking in the comments. Check back on Netflix this Friday for more episodes of Season 2.
