Super Bowl 2022: What Time Does Super Bowl 56 Start?
The day football fans wait for every year is finally here — Super Bowl 2022. But, when exactly does Super Bowl 56 air? When does it end? What channel does it air on? Moreover, what streaming options do football fans have if they don’t have traditional cable? Fortunately, we have the answers to all of these questions and more!
During tonight’s highly anticipated game, the Los Angeles Rams will play against the Cincinnati Bengals at the SoFi Stadium located in Inglewood, California. It is estimated that as many as 100 million people will watch the Super Bowl 2022. Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth will be sitting in the booth this year.
For those not up to date on their history, this will be the 11th Super Bowl with Al Michaels in the booth. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, this connects Michaels to Pat Summerall who had the most NFL broadcasts.
Super Bowl 56 will air on NBC this year after the network swapped sports with CBS. This swap was to allow NBC to pair the Super Bowl 2022 with the 2022 Winter Olympics. As The Philadelphia Inquirer, it has been several years since NBC last had the opportunity to broadcast a Super Bowl.
What time will Super Bowl 2022 start?
The kickoff for Super Bowl 2022 will start at 6:30 p.m. EST. As mentioned previously, Super Bowl 56 will air on NBC. For those without traditional cable, there are a few streaming options available including: NBC Sports app, Peacock, fuboTV (free 7-day trial) YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, DirecTV Stream, or Sling TV. Keep in mind, all of these options do require authentication or a subscription. FuboTV does come with a 7-day free trial if you’ve never used it before.
For mobile users, there are a few options available including: NFL Mobile app, CBS Sports App, and Yahoo Sports app.
What time will Super Bowl 56 end?
On average, a typical NFL game comes with 16 commercial breaks. With several untimed stops throughout the game, there isn’t really a clear-cut “end time” for Super Bowl 56. That being said, Super Bowl history does allow us to make an educated guess. This guess, however, is a little more complicated than a traditional NFL game because of the expensive commercials and the incredible concert that takes place at halftime. For Super Bowl 56, the halftime show will include Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar.
For the past three years, the Super Bowl game has lasted for approximately three and a half hours. Super Bowl LII in 2018, however, lasted even longer not ending until 10:25 p.m. EST. Presently, the longest Super Bowl game in history was Super Bowl XLVII in 2013. The game lasted four hours and fourteen minutes. There, however, was a 34-minute blackout in the Superdome that year.
Averaging this information out, three hours and thirty-eight minutes is how long the game is expected to last. This would put the game ending at approximately 10:08 p.m. EST.
Now, you know exactly when Super Bowl 56 will start and roughly when it is expected to end. Will you be tuning in to watch the Super Bowl 2022 tonight? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
