Chrishell Stause: Ellen DeGeneres Ruined My Chances As ‘Bachelorette’
In her new book, Chrishell Stause reveals how talk show host Ellen DeGeneres ruined her chances as The Bachelorette. Keep reading for all the details.
Selling Sunset star refuses to talk Justin Hartley prenup details
Actress and reality star Chrishell Stause has a new book to promote. However, she isn’t breaking her divorce NDA to do it. The Selling Sunset star appeared on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live ahead of her book release.
While she answered many questions about her Netflix co-stars, some details of her divorce were off-limits. “I don’t think I’m allowed to answer this question,” she told host Andy Cohen. The question? If she had a prenup with ex-husband Justin Hartley, and if not, did she rake in the money from his hit show This Is Us?
The celebrity couple announced the shocking split in 2019 after two years of marriage. In fact, Stause has said that the divorce was a complete surprise even to her.
Hartley has since married former Young and the Restless co-star Sofia Pernas. Chrishell Stause has had several high-profile romances since her divorce. She was most recently linked to her Selling Sunset boss Jason Oppenheim.
But once upon a time, the up-and-coming actress was about to be named the next Bachelorette lead. What happened?
How Ellen DeGeneres ruined Chrishell Stause’s shot as Bachelorette
Chrishell Stause has claimed for years that she was almost the lead for Season 4 of The Bachelorette. ABC executive Robert Mills confirmed the tidbit during an appearance on Nick Viall’s The Viall Files podcast in 2020, as Us Weekly reported at the time.
In her memoir, Under Construction: Because Living My Best Life Took a Little Work, Stause blames Ellen DeGeneres for losing out on her chance as Bachelorette.
At the time, Brad Womack’s season of The Bachelor ended with him rejecting both DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft. According to Chrishell, Pappas went on the Ellen talk show to discuss the rejection.
“Ellen declared that DeAnna should be the next Bachelorette,” Stause writes in her book. “Fans rallied around, the network listened, and my announcement was pulled,” she added.
However, the Days of Our Lives alum doesn’t have any hard feelings.
“For so many years my love life wasn’t the main topic of conversation, and if I had done The Bachelorette, my love life would have been THE topic of conversation,” she explains, according to E! Online.
DWTS contestant once dated this Bachelor Nation alum
Interestingly, Chrishell Stause has another connection to DeAnna Pappas. She once dated Graham Bunn, a contestant on Season 4 of The Bachelorette.
Bunn revealed in an interview on the Click Bait podcast that Stause broke up with him, thinking she was about to be named the next Bachelorette. In a strange twist of fate, he joined the show instead as one of the suitors.
Bunn and Stause reconnected following his stint on the dating show and dated for several years before splitting up, People reports.
Chrishell Stause also had a brief romance with Dancing With The Stars pro Keo Motsepe. She details their relationship in her memoir. Click here to read what she says about her exes.
