‘Celebrity Big Brother’: Todd Bridges Used To Be A Drug Dealer
Over the years, Todd Bridges has shared a lot about his experience in Hollywood. The Celebrity Big Brother cast member has done his share of bad things. Now, he’s hoping to show a different side of himself in the third installment of the reality TV show.

The cast of Celebrity Big Brother this season includes Cynthia Bailey-Hill, Teddi Mellencamp, Todd Bridges, Todrick Hall, Chris Kattan, Carson Kressley, Shanna Moakler, Mirai Nagasu, Lamar Odom, Miesha “Cupcake” Tate, and Chris Kirkpatrick. As you can see, there is a mix of actors, athletes, singers, and performers. One name many people today may not recognize is that of Todd Bridges.
That is because the 56-year-old did a lot of acting early in his life. He started acting at the age of six and his mom and dad both worked in show business. Bridges is most widely recognized for his role on the sitcom Diff’rent Strokes. More recently, you may have seen him on the show Everybody Hates Chris and, now, Celebrity Big Brother. Now that’s he is in the spotlight again, it has many people wondering about Bridges and his past. To say the least, it has been troubled.
Todd Bridges Has A Troubled Past
Several years ago, Bridges published a book called Killing Willis that talked about being a young person in the spotlight. It also highlighted racism and other things occurring in Hollywood. As mentioned above, he got his start acting at the young age of six. He was on track to becoming a troubled child star five years later when he was sexually abused by a family friend.
There was no wonder as to why Bridges started using drugs and alcohol at 15. He was dealing with a lot of pressure acting while simultaneously trying to handle abuse at home. Bridges battled an addiction to crack cocaine and meth. In 1989, he landed himself in jail for attempting to murder a Los Angeles-area drug dealer. Eventually, all of this led him to begin selling drugs himself. The early 90s brought along a slew of different charges and run-ins with the police. All of that came to an end on February 24, 1993, when he gave all of it up.

Bridges has been sober now for 25 years. With that knowledge, many viewers were surprised to see him with a beer in his hand during an episode of Celebrity Big Brother. However, there aren’t any signs he’s back to his old ways. In fact, Bridges says his troubled past will lend him a helping hand when living in close quarters with strangers.
If you’re interested in seeing Bridges and the rest of the season 3 cast, Celebrity Big Brother airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
