This week, actor Peter Dinklage opened up about dwarfism in Hollywood while on the WTF podcast, hosted by Mark Maron. Specifically, he called out Disney for remaking Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The movie’s release is still several years away, but some details of the film have already been released.
Dinklage is heavily criticizing Disney’s decision. On the podcast, he said, “Literally no offense to anyone, but I was a little taken aback — they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White. But you’re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me.”
He continued, “You’re progressive in one way but then you’re still making that f—— backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together, what the f— are you doing, man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soap box? I guess I’m not loud enough.”

On their family’s Instagram story, Amber and Trent Johnston shared a screenshot of an article on Dinklage’s statement, along with a link. They encouraged fans to go read the article.
Then, the family shared their personal thoughts. They wrote that they “100% agree” with Dinklage’s comments. They continued, “We as individuals with dwarfism must be louder, take a stance and refuse to accept such roles.”
The TLC stars then shared about what must be done for society to “move forward.”
They hope that many of their followers become aware of dwarfism in Hollywood. Many people may not know about these issues without Amber and Trent Johnston bringing them to light. Hopefully, using their platform will raise awareness of the “hypocrisy” and lead to change eventually.
