Former Little People, Big World star Jacob Roloff spoke out about a year ago, naming his alleged abuser. Now, as he passes the one-year mark since he first mentioned what happened, he is reflecting on how coming forward changed his life.

In an Instagram post in December 2020, Jacob shared with fans what had happened to him when he was young. In his lengthy explanation, he wrote, “As a child, after what I realize now was a long grooming process, I was molested by an executive field producer for Little People, Big World, Chris Cardamone.”

Then, on December 26, 2021, Jacob talked about how free he feels now. He says he feels more open and more confident. He believes that speaking about his alleged abuse also gave him a chance to become a father.

Naturally, after hearing his story, fans began urging the Roloff son to take legal action. However, this is something Jacob is unable to do.

Jacob Roloff says he can’t press charges.

In the comments section of Jacob’s recent Instagram post, a year after his initial statement, a fan commented and asked why he hasn’t pressed charges against his alleged abuser. In response, Jacob explained:

“Appreciate the sentiment. Unfortunately, and I think this is important for others to know, too, it is extremely difficult to pursue any legal action because of a system built to make it that way. He won’t receive any repercussions except for perhaps socially from my post.”

He added more, criticizing the legal system. The former LPBW star said, “A cruel world and a joke of legal system! Just emphasizes that we should, in general, believe victims. If they cannot find closure through legal action (the most common outcome), they should at least be able to find support and validation in the people around them!”

So, while Jacob would have a difficult journey ahead if he decided to press charges, he is still feeling free and seems to be happy where he is. It looks like he’s put a lot of time and effort into becoming free. Fans are proud of him after such a dark and heavy thing happened to him at a young age.

So, did you assume this is why Jacob Roloff can’t take legal action at this point? Do you think his recent post proves that he’s made peace with the past and is ready for a fresh start? Share your thoughts in the comments section below. For more news about the Roloffs, come back to TV Shows Ace.

  1. I feel terrible for Jacob, but that would explain his abrupt departure from the show the minute he turned 18. As for his explanation of why he is not pursuing any legal action, I am guessing that his only reason for refraining from doing so is that to move forward legally would adversely affect his parents’ and one brother’s income.

  2. Never let a child molester get off free….it will be repeated to other children. There are probably many…expose the pedo for justice in this case & all others. That’s the right thing to do.
